38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
If Jesus Came To Your House by Lois Blanchard
If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two – If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you’d do. Oh, I know you’d give your nicest room to such an honored Guest, And all the food you’d serve to Him would be the very best, And you would keep assuring Him you’re glad to have Him there – That serving Him in your own home is joy beyond compare.
But when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door With arms outstretched in welcome to your heavenly Visitor? Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in? Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they’d been? Would you turn the radio off and hope He hadn’t heard? And wish you hadn’t uttered that last, loud, hasty word?
Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out? Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about? And I wonder – if the Savior spent a day or two with you, Would you go right on doing the things you always do? Would you go right on saying the things you always say? Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace? And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace? Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read, And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed? Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you’d planned to go? Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends? Or would you hope they’d stay away until His visit ends? Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on? Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone? It might be interesting to know the things that you would do If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

Believers Share Their Possessions
32 All the
believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their
possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the
apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy
persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold
them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’
feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.

continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they
parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose
Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. 41 He went through
Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

Made Alive in Christ
2 As for you, you were dead in your
transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to
live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the
kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are

one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and
thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But
because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made
us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace
you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with
Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ
Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might
show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his
kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from
